Memorandum from the Director of Education to the County Architect about ‘Coolham Controlled J.M.I.* School’ 21st April 1970                                                              includes reasons for the new build, design criteria, kitchen details, accommodation schedule (room sizes etc), estimated costs, staff and pupil numbers
  2. West Sussex County Times 27th October 1972article on a service at the Blue Idol meeting house celebrating the old Coolham school’s Quaker foundation prior to the move
  3. The Friend journal vol.130 no.49 Dec. 1972 article with brief historical details on the old school
  4. West Sussex County Council Education Committee Programme for the official opening of the William Penn Primary School, Coolham, 3rd July 1973; includes service details, potted history of the old school founded in 1891 and description of the new school (above)

Record: Scroll recognising the 300th anniversary of Penn’s first visit to Pennsylvania in 1682

The scroll was presented to the Chichester (UK) Friends Meeting by the Chichester (Pennsylvania) Friends Meeting and the former have deposited the original on indefinite loan at West Sussex Record Office.
