Certain letters relate to Harriett's brother Cecil Bisshopp's military service in Upper Canada during the War of 1812, fighting against the United States:
f.21/40 - 15th February 1813 refers to Cecil's successful defence of Fort Erie against the Americans in the Battle of Frenchman's Creek on 28th November 1812.
