- Description: CONTENT WARNING. Written from Beaver Dam. This was the day of the Battle of Beaver Dams, in which First Nations warriors, fighting on the British side, successfully repelled an attack on headquarters at DeCew (Decou) House by American troops under the command of Colonel Charles Boerstler. This event was notable for the contribution of Laura Secord, who having become aware of the plans of the Americans, walked c20 miles from her home in Queenston to warn Lieutenant James FitzGibbon, the commander of the British troops at DeCew. Cecil Bisshopp did not himself participate in the battle, but reports here on his troops taking prisoners from the US Army under B?rstler and encloses the Capitulation entered into between B?rstler and Lieutenant FitzGibbon on behalf of himself and a list of prisoners taken (the latter not present). Also praises the 'gallant Conduct' of First Nations warriors.
